We're Nadia and Em. One night in the pub, we were talking about how we wanted to change our lives. The trouble was, all we were doing was talking. There wasn't a lot of action going on!And you know what, it seemed we weren’t alone. Loads of our friends wanted to change their lives - by finding their dream job, retraining, going on a big adventure, writing a book or starting a new business.
What we needed was inspiration injection from some truly inspirational women (not just the usual celebs being touted as achievers) and a new kind of women's network to help us and women like us to achieve the great things we were talking about. We and the women we knew weren't lacking in aspirations or ideas, we just needed the right support behind us to make it happen. Women inspiring women - how hard could it be?!
So that night More To Life Than Shoes was born!
Our mission was to launch a new kind of women's network that would bring women together, give them a gentle push to get started and the encouragement to stay motivated and achieve what they want to achieve. We wanted to create a community in which women can share ideas, skills secrets and success. A kind of girl power – all grown up.
If that wouldn’t keep us busy enough, we decided to write a book too. We set out to interview 100 inspirational women from all walks of life and share their top tips with women like us who wanted to kick start their careers. And we did. To pre-order our book or to find out more, click here.

Hi, I’m Nadia
It’s taken me years to work out what I should be doing with my life. I started out as the world’s worst trainee accountant and got through jobs like new pairs of shoes. I knew there had to be more to life.
So we set up More To Life Than Shoes for all those women who want to make something happen in their lives; to energise and inspire them to fulfil their ambitions. It’s so exciting to see what can be achieved when we get together, share ideas and help each other out. I never thought I would end up meeting so many inspirational women!
Nowadays I’m mum to Jacob, 3, juggling running a business, writing and wrestling with a feisty toddler. It’s hard work, but it’s so much fun, (mostly!) and I’ve certainly taken multi-tasking to a new level.
Hello, I’m Em
I used to work in TV but I decided on a job change to give me more time to pursue a writing career. So, now I work in a second-hand bookshop, which I love, and spend the rest of my time writing and working on More to Life Than Shoes.
Since we started More to Life Than Shoes I’ve discovered a passion for design. I developed the branding for the company and taught myself to build websites. We’ve just finished our first book and I've just had a baby too- a double launch!
